Description
REPUBLICAN COMMEMORATIVESTATUE OF THE 104
TH
CONGRESS
AT EVERY ELECTION AND MID-TERM WASHINGTON D.C.
IS FLOODED WITH THESE TYPE OF ITEMS,
BUT THIS ITEM REFLECTS A MOMENTOUS OCCASION
IN AMERICAN POLITICAL HISTORY.
FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1954
THE REPUBLICANS HAD GAINED
CONTROL OF BOTH HOUSES.
FROM JANUARY 3, 1995, TO JANUARY 3, 1997,
DURING BILL CLINTON’S THIRD AND FOURTH YEAR AS PRESIDENT,
REPUBLICANS HELD THE MAJORITY
IN THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE
.
SENATE PRESIDENT PRO TEM
WAS STROM THURMOND
SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE
WAS NEWT GINGRICH
(Two of the lowest bottom feeders)
THIS SESSIONS SAW SOME HISTORY:
THE OKLAHOMA CITY BOMBING (April 19, 1995)
PASSAGE OF THE DEFENSE OF MARRIAGE ACT (DOMA),
WHICH SET THE FEDERAL DEFINITION
OF MARRIAGE AS THE UNION OF
“ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN.”
IT WAS SIGNED INTO LAW BY PRESIDENT CLINTON
(One of his more gutless acts.
In 2015 the U.S. Supreme Court ended DOMA.)
THE “DOMESTIC VIOLENCE OFFENDER GUN BAN”
WAS PASSED BANNING GUN OWNERSHIP BY
INDIVIDUALS CONVICTED OF
OR UNDER A RESTRAINING ORDER
FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.
(Gee – you’d think that would be a no brainer!)
A GOOD DEAL OF THE CRIPPLING DIVISION
THAT’S HAMPERING THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TODAY
CAN BE TRACED TO THIS CONGRESS.
THE STATUE ITSELF, OF THE GOP ELEPHANT SITTING
ON THE DEMOCRAT DONKEY IS MADE OF RESIN,
SIX INCHES TALL, EIGHT INCHES WIDE
AND REMARKABLY DETAILED.
IT LOOKS LIKE THE RIGHT TUSK MAY HAVE
BEEN BROKEN OFF ANDRE-ATTACHED.
I NEVER NOTICED THIS UNTIL PREPARING
IT FOR EBAY AND I’VE OWNED IT SINCE 1995.
IT WAS CREATED BY E.P. McELHANNON
SHIPPING AND HANDLING WILL BE .95
(If I can ship it cheaper I’ll refund the difference.)
PLEASE INSPECT THE PHOTOS CAREFULLY BEFORE BIDDING
.
ALL SALES ARE FINAL
(UNLESS ITEMS IS RADICALLY NOT AS DESCRIBED),
NO INTERNATIONAL BIDS
(SORRY, POSTAL RATES ARE JUST TOO MUCH OF A HASSLE),
AND LOCAL PICK UPS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME.
THANKS FOR LOOKING!
AND HERE’S YOUR QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“Our fathers founded the first secular government
that was ever founded in this world.
Recollect that. The first secular government;
the first government that said every church
has exactly the same rights, and no more;
every religion has the same rights, and no more.
In other words, our fathers were the first men
who had the sense, who had the genius,
to know that no church should be
allowed to have a sword;
that it should be allowed only
to exert its moral influence.”
Robert Green Ingersoll (1833-1899)
A conservative Republican
And the greatest American you’ve never heard of!
